About the time machine

The time machine rewinds the dashboard to any day in Bitcoin’s history and shows what the on-chain signals read on that day, before anyone knew what came next. Drag the slider or jump straight to a landmark (the 2017 and 2021 tops, the 2018 and 2022 bottoms, the COVID crash, the FTX collapse or the 2024 halving) and the panel shows each metric’s value, whether it was flashing bullish or bearish, and an overall count of how the signals leaned.

Only then do you reveal what actually happened next. That order matters: it is easy to find a metric that looks prophetic on a chart drawn with hindsight, and much harder to find one that was useful in the moment. Each reading uses only data up to the selected day, so there is no look-ahead in the signal itself.

One caveat, stated plainly: the values are today’s published series, so where we have corrected a metric’s history the time machine shows the corrected value, not the one a reader would have seen at the time. Every such correction is listed with its date and impact on the corrections page.
