Definition
Percentage of circulating supply held by long-term holders — coins older than 155 days.
Formula
pct_lth = lth_supply_btc / total_supply_btcHow we compute it
From the same STH/LTH stock-and-flow ageing model: LTH supply carries forward, gains coins that cross the 155-day mark, and loses coins spent from the LTH cohort.
Interpretation
Rising % LTH = accumulation / supply maturing (typically bear-to-early-bull). Falling % LTH = long-term holders distributing into strength (typically late bull).
Caveats & limitations
- ·Uses the conventional 155-day cutoff. Cohort spent flows drive the ageing; see pct_sth for the same modelling caveat.
Current % LTH reading
As of 2026-10-16, Bitcoin’s % LTH is 81.5%, compared with 76.0% one year earlier (2025-10-16). The series has 6,490 daily readings from 2009-01-09 to 2026-10-16, computed from our own full-archive Bitcoin node and refreshed every day.
Historical extremes
The highest % LTH on record is 83.9% on 2026-07-26; the lowest is 0.0% on 2009-01-09. Readings near either end of that range have historically coincided with cycle turning points — use the chart above to see where today sits relative to past extremes.
