Definition
Average Dormancy — the average age (in days) of the coins spent on a given day, i.e. CDD per coin spent.
Formula
dormancy = avg_spent_age_days (≈ CDD / spent_value_btc)How we compute it
Computed from the holding-age distribution of the day's spent outputs (the same per-spend ages used for CDD), reported as the mean age.
Interpretation
High dormancy = old money is moving; low dormancy = mostly young coins changing hands (speculative churn).
Caveats & limitations
- ·Mean age is whale-sensitive; the dormancy-clean variant trims outliers.
